I am an academic colorist who paints modernistic, semi-abstract, surreal images of human rituals. My paintings show people engaged in daily life with contemporary twists that people can relate to. I believe the world is divided, and these emotive and iconic images can help remind us of our shared humanity.

Walter Holland is an award-winning Artist, Composer, Engineer and Film Maker. In addition, he has been a professor of painting and color theory, computer graphics, and electronic music synthesis, since the mid 80’s.  This triad of art, music, and engineering, through inter-disciplinary problem-solving is the core and foundation of the totality of Walter’s work.

Walter has a unique approach to creativity, whether it be making music, art, or designing electronic equipment. He relies heavily on each discipline to inspire his work but also understands the importance of combining all three to create a complete experience. His paintings rely on his knowledge of the physics of light and color, computer graphics and chemistry as much as on the historical materials he uses to implement them. His music is produced using electronic instruments of his own design. His award-winning short films make use of his music and his background in art and computer graphics.

Walter is constantly experimenting with innovative technology, art techniques, and music composition to push the boundaries of what is possible. This combination of music, art, and technology has helped make Walter’s work groundbreaking and influential spanning his 50-year career.
